Dr. Stubenbord was a US Air Force veteran, proudly serving with the rank of Major. Dr. Stubenbord was born in Woking, U.K. on November 30, 1946 to Dr. Jess Stubenbord, a U.S. Army surgeon, and Margaret Newdick, a British nurse, who met during WWII. He spent his early childhood in East Aurora, NY, and attended elementary school at Southside. After the death of his father in 1955, his family returned to his mother's hometown of Blakeney, a seaside town on the eastern coast of England. He attended Worksop College on the edge of Sherwood Forest, before returning to the U.S. to study at Canisius College (Class of 1971).

Dr. Stubenbord earned his M.D. at S.U.N.Y. at Buffalo School of Medicine (Class of 1975). He subsequently served as a Captain and was promoted to Major in the U.S. Air Force on the Pacific Island of Guam and was a resident in Family Medicine at Georgetown University. He opened his private practice in internal and family medicine in East Aurora, NY, in 1984, was an attending physician at Buffalo General and Mercy Hospital, and served the community faithfully for 33 years. He fell in love at first sight of his wife, Becky, in 1987, and they married soon after and spent their first two years together waking up to the sound of sheep at Knox Estate.

Dr. Stubenbord was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, the American Gollege of Physicians, and the American Academy of Family Medicine, in addition to being a Shriner and a Freemason. He was known for his kindness, warmth, and his ability to listen to those in need; most of all, he loved spending time with his family, traveling, taking long walks in Emory Park, and enjoying the occasional marmite or open-faced sandwich. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and patients. Arrangements made by: ERIE COUNTY CREMATION SERVICE, 824-6435, 873 Abbott Rd., Buffalo, NY 14220. Please share your online condolences at: www.ERIECOUNTYCREMATIONSERVICE.com
